Moved to the DC area (Falls Church, VA) in August of ‘04, after teaching in DE (Hanby) and PA (Springfield) for 4 and 6 years, respectively. Teaching special education in a program at a middle school in Alexandria, VA for kids with emotional disabilities/behavior disorders. Coached football (Garnet Valley HS) and wrestling (BHS, Mt. Pleasant (with Nick Mottola), and Springfield HS for 10 years apiece, but haven’t for the past few years. Getting engaged within the next few weeks (after two previous failed engagements), so hopefully the third time’s a charm. : )

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Recently moved back to coastal central FL, after living in Raleigh, NC and Reston, VA for the past 15 years. Have a wonderful husband of 10 yrs, and a 6 y.o. daughter (future journalist for CNN) and 3 y.o. son (south paw future QB or pitcher of course for the Florida Gators). Moved up the career ladder, then chose to move back down after the kids came along! Am an Account Executive for a managed health care company - full-time working from home (very sweet). Finished my MBA and MHA in 1999 (but really who cares ;o) Am enjoying going to Florida Gator football games again at my alma mater, lying on the beach and traveling when we can… life’s too short to be stressed out. I’ve blown off past reunions, but plan to be at this one! Go Gators!

I am living just outside of St. Louis (YAY, CARDS!), and have been married 9 years. Prior to St. Louis, we lived in Oklahoma for almost 4 years. We have a 7yr. old son and a 4yr. old daughter. My husband is in the USAF and has been for almost 18 years. I am recently self-employed doing Interior Design and so far I have done some residential and two commercial projects - it’s so much fun. I am also pursuing a Bachelors degree from Art Institute of Pittsburgh, online. What’s one more, right?!
I look forward to seeing everyone!

By day, I’m a mild mannered editor at Indiana University. The rest of the time, I play bass and sing in various bands (salsa, bluegrass, rock–you name it I’ll play it). I married the sax player I met freshman year of college, and we have a 4-year-old daughter. In my spare time (ha), I’m studying to become a nurse. Other places I’ve lived: Chicago, France. People I’m still in regular contact with: Cory Casarino, Sue Ferentinos.

pmaclaug@indiana.edu

Moved to White Plains, NY in August 2005. Working as a data management consultant for financial services firms in NYC. Just ran into Jamie Poston 2 weeks ago during a visit to DE.
Love mountain biking, skiing, lifting, running, and golf. Have been involved for the last 3 years with an incredible woman and her son.
Staying in contact (when possible) with Brad Why and Pete Krikelis.

Very eager to see everyone.

I stayed in Delaware and am living in New Castle. I have been married for thirteen years and have three children. My two boys are ten and eight and my daughter is four. I am the Principal at New Castle Middle School in the Colonial School District. Karl Crock (BHS class of 86) is one of the teachers in my school. I recently got together with Paul Bauernschmidt. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our twentieth (wow!) class reunion.

20 years went by fast! I moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1992 and have not been to Delaware since. Married with 3 boys, 14yrs(identical) and 5 y.o. My Twins football team Won the National championship Pop Warner Super Bowl last year. Spend 8 months out of the year driving my boys all around FL. to football and baseball games and to orchestra all-state. I changed careers so now in my spare time I’m taking classes to complete my RN. I still talk to aimee rouleau and just recently kristen ritzinger. Hopefully I can make the trip up to De. I sincerely wish everyone well.

philabraska@aol.com

Thank god those punks from Class of 1988 aren’t doing our planning for us! I still live in Delaware (near Sallies-top of Monkey Hill) with my wonderful wife of 6 years (Lori). We live the typical DINKS lifestyle (double income no kids). I have been working for NKS Distributors for over 10 years now and am currently the Brand Develpoment Manager for the InBev Portfolio of Beers (Stella Artois, Bass Ale and Beck’s). My company also sells Bud Light, Corona, Sam Adam’s and Mike Hard Lemonade. I keep in touch with Mike Gervay, Kurt Hutter, Dave Hill pretty regularly. I got Jean Miller and Liz Golian way to drunk at the Greek Festival and I am not sure if their husbands will let them hang with me again!!
See you all at the 20th!

mckayjp@hotmail.com

I also forgot to mention I keep in touch with Mike Smoyer (NYC) and Bill Smith (Vegas).
By the way…..what is the world comming to with Steve Haber as a Middle School Principal and Bill Smith as a College Professor.
Is the end of the world near????

Hey, a blast of nostalgia is hitting me! I just moved from Hoboken to Red Bank, NJ last year, still working in NYC as a sales executive for AT&T, married with two boys (2 and 7 months). I keep in touch regularly with Anthony Andrianapolis and Mike Gervay, Gervay at least when the Eagles lose and he wants to talk some trash! It would be great to see everyone again…I have to add it is really cool to see the Wildtebeast with a post…Eric, who knew we were working in the same city? I’m downtown in TriBeCa, a block and a half south of Canal street!

What time zone is this supposed to be, by the way? My clock says it’s 11:15 here, not 4:12!

Can’t believe 20 years have past. Kelly and I hooked up at the 5 year reunion, got married and now have 2 girls, ages 7 and 3. That keep us very busy. We are still in De. I am teaching 4th grade in the Brandywine School District ( I guess this is a scary thought) and Kelly is working on the Dover Air Force Base. Still keep in touch with Sherry Bauer, Ilene Trachtman (who is in Chicago), Tammy Ayres (taught both her boys and didn’t mess them us too bad ) Susan Hertzenberg(when she returns my calls) Paul Mazzota, Jimmy Keaton and Dave Mattson. Think it will be a blast to see everyone.

msmoyer@att.com

Wow! I left DE for NC almost the minute that we graduated and haven’t been in touch with many folks all these years–it is so great to hear what you all are doing. Kristen and Kelly definitely get the prize–what a great story.
I am still a metalsmith (jeweler and blacksmith) and have spent the last 15 years traveling the country selling my line of jewelry through art jewelry galleries nationally and internationally. It has been a great adventure with lots of cool things like being on HGTV’s “Crafter’s Coast to Coast” last year.
Two years ago I decided to come off the road for awhile so I could design a new line of jewelry. I moved to Raleigh, NC, found a studio in the warehouse district, and studied to become a yoga teacher. I now do corporate and private commissions, am working on building that new line, teach yoga in the gallery space at the studio, teach jewelry and am an accountant for several design oriented businesses. When things slow down a bit, I am planning on writing a book about making jewelry.
My sister had twins last January, so I get back to DE more often now and I am practicing to be the Coolest Aunt Ever.
I still keep in touch with Anne Warwas (Robertson) and saw Jean Miller (Smith) when I was back in DE last week. I haven’t seen most of you in 20 years and I look forward to seeing you all and catching up at the reunion.

.

Wow we’re getting old. Before you know it we’ll all be 40.

I’ve been married for 11 years and I have two daughters, ages 8 and 6. Up until this past summer I’ve lived and worked in the Tri-State area. For the past 7 years I’ve been working for Orleans Homebuilders doing real estate development. During the summer of 04 we moved out of North Wilmington across the border into Pennsylvania. As for a BHS footnote, I moved from a neighborhood where Laura Eareckson lived into one that had Amy Bundens, both of which made good neighbors. This past summer I took a transfer with the company and we moved to Charlotte, NC.

In addition to Laura and Amy, I try to keep in touch with Dave Heaney, Bruce Cundiff, JP McKay, and about as often as the Olympics come around Mike Gervay and Dave Hill. Also there was a string of weeks this year where I’d catch up with Jamie Poston at the same bar. I look forward to seeing everyone.

khutter@orleanshomes.com

Hey everybody! Great to hear from so many people so far and very excited about seeing everyone soon…

I’ve been in the San Francisco area for about 10 years after spending time in Boston, Chapel Hill, NC, and Louisville, KY. I lived for awhile in SF proper and now am in the lovely suburban hamlet of Alameda, close to Oakland (my wife’s a big Raiders fan, so she’s happy). We’ve been married for 4 years and have a 19 mo old daughter who does not cease to make our days interesting and fun-filled. I work for a small company writing research on the payments and financial services industries.

I have been rather lax in staying in touch with people (my bad, y’all), but do manage to get updates from Kurt Hutter every now and again, and one Jamie Poston has made the trip out to San Francisco several times since I’ve lived here, but it’s been awhile. Although now due to this website I have already been privy to a HILARIOUS email exchange among Kurt, Gary Ricci and myself. So again…can’t wait to see everyone next year!!

btc3rd@yahoo.com

Hi everyone. It is great to hear how many of us have moved out of Delaware and how many of us are still close by. I never moved away and I am currently living in Claymont. I have been married for six years and have one son who is 5 and just started Kindergarten and two step daughters who are taller than me and they haven’t reached their teens yet. I have been a social worker for the state for the last 14 years. I am currently working on a nursing degree. I keep in touch with Jessie Gill and Janet Rooney since we all work together on weekends at Jessie’s store in the Boothwyn Farmer’s Market. I also see Alida Columbus all over Wilmington. I am surprised that I haven’t run into more of you since this state is so small. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone. I missed the other reunions so this one should be great. Who would have thought 20 years could go by so quickly?

Hey Everyone!
It is so great to see everyone’s responses. This reunion planning has stirred up a lot of old memories and laughs. Even though I still live in Delaware, I live in lower, slower Delaware in a town that I had never even heard of in high school, Bridgeville (25 miles west of Rehoboth). I have to admit I am bad at keeping in touch with old friends. I am a full-time nurse, and I have my own medical transcription business, so work keeps me pretty busy. I have been married to my husband for 10 years and going strong. We have one 6-year-old son, who is awesome. I recently have been communicating with Kristen Anderson (Ritzinger), and I have thoroughly enjoyed that. Sherry Bauer and I still talk occasionally, but I miss her very much. I am looking forward to seeing everyone.

Hey Everyone,
This is too fun!! First, I want to tell you all that Kristen Ritzinger did mess up my children! Who let her become a teacher?? You know that “No Child Left Behind” Act… It was created because of her!!! Second, has Susan Hertzenberg gotten back to anyone? If she did she didn’t respond to me. I think the doorprize at the reunion for most engagements will be won by Gary Ricci, hands down! And the free babysitting on reunion night will be at J.P.’s house… he could at least get a couple of dogs or something the DINK!! Oh and so there is no confusion about Kelly Anderson he is not in the Air Force… Did you really think they would let him in???
Just kidding all..
I’m still in Delaware, actually in Gary Ricci’s old house! I am married with two boys, one of which will be graduating from Brandywine in June and one in 8th grade at Springer. Just crazy! I am still in contact with Karen Gourley, Kristen Anderson, Sherry Bauer, Debbie Hague and sometimes I catch up with Stacy VanVures and Fran Connelly (who are married to each other). Can’t wait to see everyone! Let’s get the planning committee rolling!!!!

AndyBrando@aol.com

Tammy is really mean. Did anyone think that was funny? I don’t remember her being like that in high school. Time can really change a person.

kristen725@comcast.net

kristen725@comcast.net

melvin14@comcast.net

Too bad the reunion wasn’t a couple of weeks ago, or else I would have pushed for that door prize to be a RING… Yes, Tammy, you pain-in-the-ass, I am the Ross Gellar (all of you people who watched ‘Friends’ will get that) of the class of ‘87. However, the third time is, in fact, a charm — she said ‘yes’. (smart girl) ; )

Awww…. Ross got his Rachel.
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone! Great to read about all the adventures, though I have to admit my two years at Brandywine were a blur and I don’t remember everyone — I have to break out the year book! Fran Connelly (no, he doesn’t have crazy hair anymore) and I have been married for almost 14 years and have two wonderful boys (10 and 8). I am a legal secretary at a law firm in Wilmington and Fran is an operations manager at a fire protection company in King of Prussia. We live in North Wilmington and never run into anyone either! Tammy, I can’t believe Andy is graduating this year! Where did the time go?! I keep in touch with Laura Eareckson (now Keehan) and recently saw Beth Jacobs (now Bonsall) who told me about this web site. We see Barbara Leone now and again, and last April saw Jamie Poston and Paul Mazotta at a Leone party. Has anyone heard from Gumby (Michelle Martin)!? It will be great to see everyone! We are available to help with the planning.
Stacy and Fran

Hey you all,
I have to admit, I love checking this website and seeing everyone’s updates and what is going on in your lives. I will be in town for a few days at xmas, and I am planning on getting together with Jean Miller (Smith) and maybe Liz Golian (McCormick) and Cathy Cooper for a drink at Stanleys and catching up. If any of you all would like to join us, you’re most welcome. I haven’t seen most of you in 20 years, so it would be a real treat. Email me if you’re interested: supergretchen@metalformsstudio.com

Gretchen,
Let me know when you guys are heading to Stanley’s and I will meet you guys for a beer or three.
Saw Jamie Poston at Ale House last weekend and he still has not stumbled onto this site yet. I let him know in passing but he is probably still confused about this whole internet thing? (ha,ha)

I may be evil but I did think Tammy’s rant was humorous (I know, it wasn’t at my expense). I actually wish she knew me better so she could have made some choice comments about me! I actually spoke with Erik Wildt today, got a bit caught up. All thanks to this website. Technology can really kick ass. Thanks, JP for sending me the URL.

LET’S GET IT STARTED!

Okay, Bulldogs…

It seems that the rants have quieted down for now, so I think it’s safe to emerge.

When I built this site, I was hoping that maybe 10 or 15 folks would find it, and that a small group might set out on the task of finding others in our class to form a reunion committee.

Lo and behold, the word is spreading! I’ve heard from about 40 classmates so far, and several of you have indicated a willingness to help with the planning process for a fabulous 20 Year Reunion next year.

Here’s what I propose:

1. Plan-o-rama
I’m going to start a new page on the site, where people can suggest their ideas for a variety of decisions that need to be made, including the where, the when, the who, and the how of the BHS Class of ‘87 Twenty-Year Reunion experience. Please check out the new page and register your thoughts.

2. Lead, Follow, Or At Least Show Up At The Bar
We’ll need some committee chairs (venue planner, communications planner, cocktail hour planner, etc.). Let me know the type of help that you are willing to offer. For those of you with particular skills (Hey, Beav—-are you still DJing?), such as advertising/promotion, web programming, decorations planning, ticket sales collection, etc., let’s hear your ideas. In order to make this reunion a night (or even weekend) to remember, we’ll need folks to invest high energy and spirit into the process.

3. Find The People
Perhaps our biggest challenge will be to get in touch with as many of our classmates as we can. In order to do so, I will start a Classmates Register page on this site, where we can list the “Found” and “Missing” people. Please check this site often and tell everyone you know to visit. Wouldn’t it be great if every living member of our class at least checked in once?

Lastly, thank you to all who are reading this. This connection you are making is what it takes to make a great experience for everyone. As E.M. Forster so aptly said, “Only Connect.”

Looking forward,

Susan E. Hendrich (Hertzenberg)
bhsclassof87@hotmail.com

Sue, though I’m impressed with your E.M. Forster quote, it’s not surprising that a fellow Penn Stater would be able to slip something literary into this otherwise degenerate collection of blogs!

Hi Everyone!

It is nice to hear how well everone is doing! Moved to Savannah, Georgia 2 years after graduation but came back 8 years later. I have been married going on 7 years. I was a coorporate trainer for 10 years, until my daughter was born. I stay home with my daughter (18 month) during the day and am enjoying every minute of it! I do work as a (Nationally Certified) Kitchen and Bath Designer part-time evenings and Saturdays. I am also back in school to get my Masters in Elementary Education (no comments from the peanut gallery, please). I would like to starting to teach when Emma enters Kindergarten. I haven’t really kept up with anyone from High School, except a card once a year to Lori (Rispoli) Maugle (who ended up graduating a year behind us.) Occasionally I bump into my old school mates but only since I moved to Claymont from Pikecreek- Jean (Miller) Smith was my roommate in the maternity ward (small world, huh), Stacy (VanVures) Connelly at a PTA meeting I was attending for class, Janet Rooney, Jodi Rule and Jessica Gill at the Farmer’s Market. Tammy (Ayres) Holcombe’s Mom saw my Mom and passed on a picture of us in 1st or 2nd grade (how long ago was that!) It will be fun to see everyone! Can’t wait to see more Blogs!

Oops!
Bijacobs@msn.com or Beth_Bonsall@hotmail.com

Wow! I had such a kick out of reading these posts! Definitely a trip down memory lane…some good some …ehhh! Ok where to start…I can identify with Gary in that I’ve not been married…YET. I’ve come close a few times but fortunately they did NOT work out! I’m currently sitting in the sun in Key Largo on a bit a “clear my head” road trip. I’ve done a lot since 1987 as I can see you all have too. I give ya the quick and dirty version…I cleaned up my act in 1988 after my college lifesyle at BHS. I waited tables and pretty much did what I wanted to do as I figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I finally decided on nursing….YES I’m an RN, no jokes or if you do… they better be creative! I’ve heard all the Focker jokes and, Yes, in fact, I can milk a cat!
I’m getting my MSN but looking to transfer schools to pursue a different nurse practitioner track.
I’ve worked at every psych hospital in New Castle County, I live in Trolley Sq. I’ve run four marathons and a dozen halves. I can’t believe that about Bill Smith and Steve Haber! That was a pretty funny post! J.P. we live near each other but I swear I wouldn’t know you if I tripped over you! I still have regular contact with the Wiltderbeast, Todd Windsor and Wayne Apsley. I see PJ Anderson on rare occasion and bumped into Alida Columbus a few weeks ago at Barnes and Noble…You can usually find me there studying. :)

Alright well those are the highlights! Look forward to seeing all you guys!

Wow, it’s fun to read all your news. Looking forward to catching up with you all. I’ve been bad about staying in touch. Still communicate with Ellen Goode and Christy (Johnson) Holmes (at least Christmas letters). I’m enjoying the single life after 2 falied engagements myself. Gary’s story gives me hope though : )

After Brandywine I went to Va Tech and became a teacher - taught 7th grade math for 2 years. Then I went to gradutate school for biometry at Cornell. It was brutal but worth it. Now, I’m working at Georgetown University in cancer research as a Biostatistician. Have been here 10 years, working in DC and own a home in Annandale, VA. In my spare time I hike, backpack, bike, sing in the choir, play handbells and flute as needed, and lead a small group ministry. The exciting news is that I just returned from my 2nd short term mission trip, this one to India. My first trip was serving in a poor clinic in Cairo, Egypt three years ago. Last year’s big fun was a backpacking and hiking trip through parts of Colorado with friends.

Mom and Dad moved to NY state to care for Dad’s parents in their old age, so I don’t get back to Wilmington just to visit anymore. It will be great to have a reason to come back.

slackrs@georgetown.edu

Hey Kids!
Tuesday December 26, 8pm, Stanley’s. If you’re in town for the holidays, please feel free to come by and say hi and catch up. Bring your mates, kids, dogs–whatever, if you like. Hope to see many of you soon.

Hey everyone,
A few of us 87 grads got together last night.
After many drinks last night, I seem to remember something about me helping to organize the reunion.

Here is what was discussed:
1- Date in May or June on a Saturday.
2- Open Bar (beer/wine) and heavy Hors d’Oeuvres (Gretchen suggested to make sure vegitarian included).
3- Locations discussed (Washington St Ale House, Harry’s Savoy)
4- Cost around $60 per person/ $100 couple

In attendance at Stanley’s (Liz (Golian) McCormick, Jean (Miller) Smith, Cathy (Cooper) Goodman, Gretchen McLaren, Mike Gervay and Myself)

If I missed anything let me know.
It was great to see you all!!

J.P.

Hi everyone,
Had a great time last night at Stanley’s, talking with some of you who I haven’t seen in a long time (can’t believe it’s been almost 20 yrs) pouring thru the moth ball smelling yearbook!

I’m still in the area. I’m an occupational therapist, worked at St. Francis out of school, then moved on to Philly at the Hospital of the University of Penn. (Brad, we had 4 male nurses on our Rehab unit, and they were Awesome- oh, and by the way, I have run in 2 half marathons also! One was in Hawaii, that was so much fun!). Got married, moved just over the line to West Chester, and now we have twin girls, 2 yrs old. The commute and work hrs were too much with the girls, so now I’m working part time in the school districts in PA. I haven’t kept in touch with hardly anyone, really just Jean (Miller) Smith. I kept in touch with Andrea Gibson for awhile, thru her adventures of teaching in Japan and world travels, then she moved to Colorado and got married, and I lost track of her. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

J.P.
Would you consider a time in June after schools let out for the summer?

The Wheels are Turning!

Ideas for the reunion are starting to roll in, and here are some of the highlights:

Possible Dates: The months of May, June, November and December have been mentioned most

Possible Days of the Week: Saturday is the unanimous favorite so far

Possible Venues: Doubletree Inn (formerly the Sheraton/Radisson on Concord Pike, next to the Mall), Washington St. Ale House, Harry’s Savoy Grill, Conley Ward’s

What are your thoughts?

Susan (Hertzenberg) Hendrich

maybe someone’s parents are going away for the weekend and we can have it at their house…

Washington Street Ale House sounds fun! Saturday sounds good, and either May or June sounds good to me - November and December are very busy with holiday preparations.

Hey Gary…
My parents still talk about the time they decided to go away for the weekend…they’re on to me!

So Gary when are your parents going away?
If Spring or Summer is the go we could do an indoor/outdoor place!

Fun to hear from everyone! After many travels my wife Kim and I settled in the D.C. area 7 years ago, first in Falls Church, VA for 4 years and since 2003 in Crofton, MD (not far from Annapolis). We have two great kids, Bronte (7) and Ansel (3). We are in touch with Pete Krikelis, Jim and Andrea Kidwell (thanks Andrea for pointing us to the site), Scott Proud and until a few years ago Jon Marsh and Craig Harman.

I’m completely open to all dates/months and venues proposed–can’t wait to see everyone again.
Cheers,
Dean
deancook@yahoo.com

LMAO … Let’s do a HOUSE PARTY!!! Dayyyumm! What memories … I think I remember some jackass putting their head through a wall in my basement!

I’ll echo Laura in that it be after schools let out but not too late in the summer as peeps will be on vacations here and there and that may interfere.

As for MY vote as to venue (for real)… I’m a huge fan of Harrys Savoy, they have a pretty cool complex in the back but I’m not sure on price!

That’s my $.02 for now ;)

Hey you all,
Thanks for all of you that came out to Stanley’s while I was in town. I had a great time seeing you all after all these years. JP–your wife Rocks! I vote her an honorary member of our class.

I’ll be back in DE in mid or late January and will post again to see who’s game to join me for a drink. The only rule is no more drunken reunion planning!

JP-thanks for volunteering to take care of food and drinks for the reunion. Working in the business definitely has benefits for us. Thank you so much.

I would vote for Harry’s,–I seem to remember that they have great food, and, as long as JP can get us a good deal, it holds the estimated 175 that we think will attend, there’s a bar/things to do nearby in case folks want to socialize after the reunion is over, it seems like a good choice to me.

My vote for time of year would be in the spring/summer as the holidays are just too crazy in my business, and many of us don’t live in the area anymore and don’t come back to DE at that time.

I don’t have kids, but it seems like a reasonable request to hold it after school lets out, but I don’t know when that is for most folks. Mid to late June dates on a Saturday are the 16th, 23rd and the 30th. Any of those dates work for me, so I’ll leave it up to those that have a strong opinion on the subject.

Gary, I vote for the after party to be at your house! We could just buy a keg, throw it in the backyard, and call it a field party for old time’s sake.

Also, if anyone keeps in touch with Jamie Poston, could you all direct him to this site or have him email me? I have a bunch of messages for him from folks that have emailed me. I really think he should run for mayor–seriously.

I have one more idea to throw out to see what you all think. Many of you have expressed interest in seeing my work or the HGTV show, and since I don’t have a gallery that represents me in the area, I am thinking about finding a venue in DE to have a show that is the same time as our reunion and having a gallery opening and/or a screening party on the Friday night prior to our reunion.

That rather ambitious idea got me to thinking that maybe some folks are musicians that still play in bands and that they might schedule a gig the same weekend so that we can all attend, or since a handful of us are into biking and running that maybe someone might want to organize a group ride or run, or….? whatever else you all might have ideas about. What say you?

Okay, I’m steppin’ back out now…

supergretchen@metalformsstudio.com

Update on possible venues,

Ale house -
PROS:less expensive, new banquet room, quality food, bar to hang out after, close to Trolly Square, owner is a good friend of mine (business and personal).
CONS:capacity 120 upstairs but owner ready to work with us if we spill into downstairs dining area.

Harry Savoy -
PROS: high quality food, plenty of room, renovations currently underway in main restaurant and bar, my neighbor is the GM of both Harrys Savoy and Harrys Seafood.
CONS: Price & Availability if we don’t act fast.

Doubletree-
PROS: rooms to pass out in
CONS: we are in a hotel, not sure on pricing

Conley & Ward-
PROS: high end dining
CONS: $$$$ could be double

There are many other options available but I think we should let the masses rule on which direction we should futher investigate.

1-Restaurant/bar
2-Hotel/ballroom

Please lock in your answer now!

My vote: 1. Restaurant/bar
JP-would it be helpful to you if we could get some kind of head count?

Brad - your comment about the damage to your basement reminds me of the clever folks who attended two parties at my folks’ place and thought it would be a good idea to 1) see what happens to an egg in the microwave (we still don’t know, I opened the door on it before it could finish, but still did nice damage); 2) put a colored shirt over a desk lamp for mood lighting and let it cook for a while and 3) immortalize the event with a red magic marker inscription of “Party - 8/15/86″ on the bedroom wall. Let’s not threaten anyone’s houses this time!

As for venue, at least until we know how much more $$ it would be, I’d vote for a nice hotel to crash at after the reverie of a 20 year reunion.

Mike,
I’m still embarassed about this, but I remember bringing my baby sister to your keg party and her being completely freaked out. We must have left before all the damage occured, but believe me, to this day, she still gives me a hard time about it!
Nope, no houses, we were only joking.

Hilarious parties… can’t wait to revisit old times! I’ll leave my bong at home! haha!

I vote for Harry’s; I go there often and am a huge fan of the facility and the food… .second choice would be the Ale House.

Gretchen, I am actually an event organizer for a 5 mile run in PA… there is a TON that goes into the planning and execution. I would be up for the challenge of organizing it…But, it’s gonna cost a little money, for things like shirts, water, oranges etc. Would also be an expense to have a company do the timing and order of finishers. All totalled…would be around 1K to do a 5K ;)

How many runners we gotz?

Brad,
About the 5K–that rocks!
Although I’m much more of a biker than a runner, if you commit to doing this, I’m in like Flynn. I can think of 3-4 more of us that are runners off the top of my head. Can you email me off this blog, so we don’t bore everyone with the details?

Harrys…for sure…and they re renovating the restaurant part as we speak…

Brad/Gretchen, I can help with this. I do operations work with most of the promoters for running and professional cycling races and have courses / fencing trussing etc. I also work with a local promoter here that can throw something together pretty quickly, email me offline.

Folks!

After HS I took the tour of Delaware collages before graduating with the very useful Criminal Justice degree. I have been working at MBNA as an MIS/Programmer dude till the Koolaid (recently) ran out and now work for Bank of America. I also work on professional cycling events including world championships and the Olympics.

I have been living in Arden (with the hippies and witches) for 10 years, I compete in multisport events (Duathalons) in the spring as well as cyclocross in the fall. I used to road race bicycles but cant seem to stay upright. I spend summers in Dewey where I see Lauren and occasionally trip over Mayor Jamie P who is sleeping on the floor at my beach house. I also still see Jon Gill (1988) who is a top DJ in Philadelphia., Lori Robel (sp?), the three J’s (Janet, Jodi, Jessie), JP at the beach (and yes his wife is a rockstar…does she have any sisters?), JP and I saw Vera Wu once at UofD Football game “Hey…that girl who just tripped on her face looked like Vera Wu”…I also keep in touch with Eta (Nahapetian) Davis

Wow. Are we really planning for our 20th?! How fun to read the blogs so far! Where should I start with mine? Let’s see, after Gary and I broke off our engagement…haha. (Actually, I can attest to the legitamacy of the future Mrs. Ricci and how really great she is. Yay Gary!! ) I’ve lived in the area for almost 6 years now (West Chester, PA) with my husband of 13 years (met in college; he’s from Texas). After college we lived 3 years in Chicago then spent 7 years in Southern California (Laguna Beach, San Diego, Burbank) . We have 4 daughters, ages 2 to 10 years (believe me, the irony of the class tomboy having four little girly girls is not lost on me!). While in SoCal I earned a masters in genetics, but haven’t used it since my first little genetic experiment came along. Its fun being in the area and running into an occasional BHSer since I’ve only kept up with Amy (Michener) and Eric Lengel, Gary Ricci and more recently Kurt Hutter. I’m looking forward to anything that gets planned. If a run is organized, I’ll be game. It was while out for a jog a few years back that I ran into Kurt Hutter who had moved into my neighborhod. He’s got more marathons under his belt than I have (which isn’t saying much) so I’m sure he can be counted on too.

Happy ‘07 everyone!

Amy Keglovits (Bundens)

Hello, everyone
It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost 20 years since I’ve last seen any of you. Well, currently I am station in Ansbach, Germany with the Army National Guard. I thought that I was only supposed to play soldier one weekend a month. I guess that’s not the President’s plan. Hopefully won’t have to go and play in the deserts of Afghanistan or Iraq again, was not fun. I make my home in Boynton Beach, Florida when I am not playing soldier. I am a Sergeant with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Corrections Division, soon to be Lieutenant if all goes as planned. I never thought that I’d work in a jail, lol. I’m a single parent of a 16 year old son who I love very much. He just makes me crazy at times; I guess that’s what they are suppose to do. I am looking forward to attending this reunion, hopefully. I did not get to come to the last ones due to the military. So, I hope that the date does not interfere with what Uncle Sam has planned for me. Well, everyone take care. Can’t wait to see each of you, and see how you’ve all grown up.

Katrina Taylor
So how many of you had to pull out your yearbook to remember who I am?

Katrina — no yearbook required. However, I did pull it out to see your fellow Pep Club members. Seeing your post made me think of Artie and Tysha. I’ll bet Artie would’ve made a good general. : )

Did you keep in contact with them much after high school? I would love to see them.

Gary

I didn’t need a yearbook for you either, Katrina. In fact, I could probably produce your freshman picture you gave me in 1983!!!
It just scares me a little that you are an officer of the law!!!

I need to find my yearbook! This site is great I really enjoy reading what everyone has been up to since high school. I tried college but it didn’t work out very well. I work in various aspects of the real estate industry. I am married and have two kids a 13 year old boy named Ari and a 11 year old girl named Kayla. I live in the Newark/Hockessin area. I can’t run a marathon but enjoy working out. Look forward to seeing everyone again.
Brent(brentsells@comcast.net)

Oh my god .. this site is hysterical… All you freaks haven’t changed a bit.. lol Well.. ok maybe just a little bit. This reunion is going to be great !! Hello to everyone and hopefully this is going to bring more people back together .. A bit about me … I still keep in touch with Ilene Trachtman.. Susan Hertzenberg.. Susabelle.. Run into .. Kristen Ritzinger once every few years .. See Brad Why.. once in a blue moon at one of the Y branches that I go to..
I don’t think I need a yearbook yet … I never forget a face . On occassion I see people who have stayed local for some time .. out and about … JP.. Jamie Poston.. Dave Heiney..
Brent… now I have seen the site … See you at the gym !
I do mortgages for a living so I more frequently crossed paths with Brent Applebaum… (realtor that he is ).. and another frequent Y goer !
ljpgabbin@aol.com

Ps.. Gary..and Brad.. better to have waited.. to make sure its the right one !! You could be like some of us .. Divorced .. LOL

Wow, 20 years sure has gone by fast! It’s nice to read how everyone’s doing their thing and enjoying it! I usually never forget a face, and have trouble with names; but reading all of your stories, I remember your names, but draw a blank on some of your faces. Hopefully you all remember me :). I have residing in the Atlanta GA area since 1990, after a 2 year stay in NC. I have been working for a major Hospital/University for about 10 years as a Medical Coding and Reimbursment Coordinator and loving it!
I’ve been married for 8 years and have 1 daughter, 2 yrs old. Still very laid back, taking time to smell the roses! Hope to see you all at the reunion!

Wow, I am cracking up reading all these! Names and faces are flashing across my brain. I have been TERRIBLE at staying in touch with people. My Mom knows way more about what is going on with people from high school than I do — she seems to run into ‘87 people or their parents all the time — she ran into Cathy Sipe’s Mom a few weeks ago, I swear! My parents are still in the same house, across from Brandywine, and I’m sure I could talk them into a pool party if the weather is kind. . .

So I’m another escaped Delawarean — left for college and really never looked back. Have been mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 15 years, with a 5 year detour in Seattle for grad school (until I couldn’t stand the rain anymore), and am currently living in Oakland. Actually, at this very moment, I’m on a 3 month sabbatical in the LA area — I’ve gotten so wimpy about cold weather, that even SF winter is too much for me now.

The quick update: after moving to SF after college, and a lot of questioning the current practice of modern medicine (and a fair bit of backpacking and hitchhiking), I took a bit of a detour from conventional medical school and instead became a Naturopathic Doctor, which basically means I am a primary care doctor who uses natural therapies instead of drugs and surgery. After I graduated from school, and escaped Seattle, I started a family practice which I have been running ever since. I also managed to get married (and divorced) in there, and am a full-time Mom to my 8-year old son, Eitan.

I look forward to re-connecting with all of you! Oh, and throw me into the list of runners/bikers — the little man just ran his first 5K with me this past weekend (ok, there was a LOT of walking — on his part, not mine)!

drtarand@hotmail.com

I like romantic dinners, long walks on the beach… oh geez, sorry, wrong list!

I imagine that there is some kind of rule that if you are mentioned twice on this thing you have to stop lurking and chime in. So, having found a moment, I just wanted to drop this quick note to say I hope everyone is doing really well. As my man JP so rightly pointed out, the idea that I am a prof anywhere is likely a sign of the apocalypse (http://environment.unlv.edu/bios/smith.html ). Most of my work has been in international human rights and international development, especially water resources management. Some of my work has been focused on S. Korea, China, Philippines and Micronesia. Anyway, I can’t argue his point, BUT, I should point out that the fact that my good friend is delivering beer to the masses is an equally good sign that all is harmonious in the world and things have ended up as they should have. JP, believe it or not I have a gift for you I have not mailed for over a year… sorry!

Thanks to everyone who found the strength to tolerate me, and thanks more for the funny/ridiculous times that can still make me laugh. I feel lucky to go to school with so many good people, and I am sure that has much to do with how a person sets one’s expectations. I only recall going to jail once (cult house), but I am pretty sure we deserved more (pool jumping in the rich neighborhoods and stealing apple baskets to spray apples all over Concord Pike and near the McDonalds over enthusiastic “security guard”), if for nothing else other than bad taste (smelt night and any attempts to breakdance or “pop”). I have so many good things to say about many of the people who wrote already, but I hesitate to mention names in case I forget someone. As for people I still see, recently my close friend Tom Edwards stayed with me out here in Vegas, and so did Drew Hayes (1986). On very rare occasions I get lucky and run into folks that see my other friends more often like Pete Anastasiadis or Mike Smoyer – but not as often as I like. As I mentioned to Kurt, if any of my old friends head this way, I will be happy to give you the “inside Vegas” tour. Bizarre place (besides to obvious stuff), as it is 125 degrees in the summer, but I have a mountain 30 minutes drive behind my house where I can go ski and there are elk, mountain lions, etc. Still, lots of great restaurants, fastest growing place in the U.S., etc. – so interesting. Got interesting pics if anyone is interested. If you invested here 20 years ago your “wasteland” would be worth a fortune! Of course, you could not have surfed the Internet for property, and you would not have worried about global warming making the place even more dry and the population running out of water!

Not sure if I will be able to fly in for the reunion or not. If not, please accept my best wishes for a good time. On a very serious note, I still think of Jason from time to time. It was really sad what happened to him in Mexico. I hope that someone will mention him at the reunion.

Hope to see you if you come this way or I am visiting back home in summers. My emails are below.

Peace,
BILL

Hey Kids!
I’m flying in this coming weekend, so, I’m calling another “meeting” for Saturday night Feb 10 at The Washington Street Ale House, 9pm.
As always, everyone is invited. Please forward this announcement on to the one or two folks that you keep in touch with and bring your mates, friends, whatever. Get your babysitters and c’mon.

See you soon!

What to say, what to say………I guess I could echo Katrina’s sentiment of “So how many of you had to pull out your yearbook to remember who I am?” But, I beg you, please don’t pull out the yearbook! The person with my name in the yearbook does not exist anymore. She’s gone. For good. The quiet, shy, fat chick with little self confidence and low self-esteem has left the building. No, I have not had a sex change (LOL!), but I have “re-made myself.” Thanks to Dr. Atkins, a lot of willpower, and my treadmill, I have lost a significant amount of weight and would bet cold, hard cash that none of you would recognize me. When the weight left, I felt like I was reborn into somebody that I didn’t know. I’m still learning who that person is, but it’s all good!

I’m still in DE and love living in my neighborhood near Delaware Park. I earned an Associates in “Executive Secretary” from Goldey-Beacom and work as a Sales Assistant for an HVAC manufacturer’s rep on Kennett Square.

I’m on my 2nd marriage, which for me really IS better the 2nd time around (and I only marry men named “Robert”, haha!). I’m childless by choice, but hubby has an 18 year old son. I love being a “dogmom” to my 3 pups – a Doberman Pinscher (Athena), a Miniature Pinscher (Elvis), and a Jack Russell Terrier (Joy). They are the loves of my life.

Hubby and I love cars (we currently have 6), particularly Corvettes. I have a 1998 Torch Red Coupe and he’s got a 1978 Corvette Pace Car. We belong to the Corvette Club of Northern Delaware and enjoy taking our cars to shows and events. If you’ve ever been to the Concord Mall for the Corvette Show on Father’s Day, you have probably seen my car there. We have a beach house in Lewes where we spend every weekend in the summer fishing and having a blast. Actually, he does the fishing, I just like to sunbathe (particularly now that I’m actually able to wear a 2-piece suit without looking like a beached whale, LOL).

It’s nice that a lot of you still keep in touch with classmates. I don’t keep up with anybody, I never see anybody. Even if I did, I probably wouldn’t say anything, because I’m sure they wouldn’t recognize me and I’d end up feeling like an idiot! Actually, I used to see Tammy every year on Halloween when she would bring her kids to my parent’s house for their Halloween hotdog roast, but that’s about it. I’ve tried to catch up with a few, but it never seems to work out.

I have not yet been to a reunion for fear of feeling “out of place”, but you all seem so nice and funny, maybe you can help push me over the edge! That’s all I need, a little push….

My e-mail is charsvette@comcast.net

What fun to read through all the postings! When I think back to 84 - 87, who knew where we would all end up?

I received the link through Charlotte Stigler and realized how lax I’ve also been in keeping up with people — but, the memories still make my laugh (Char — remember the roof @ Springer and trying to get all the tar off at your house?)

After high school, left for college in New Orleans and an Advertising career — (to all you parents, don’t EVER send your kid to N.O. for school). After school, actually tried the advertising world and realized I hated it! Landed in the hotel business in Philadelphia and haven’t looked back since.

I work for Hilton Hotels and have lived all over the country managing their Embassy Suites & Doubletree hotels. Just moved in to a new position this past November, Director of Brand Performance for the 21 Hilton properties in Florida. A lot of travel and working for the first time away from a specific hotel, but having a great time.

I presently live in West Palm Beach, FL — getting married in April on the beach. (Love the sun year round here!).

Please let me know what the date for the reunion is and I’ll definitely try to come.

Kind Regards,

Julie Garrison

Hey, Bill. Jessie, Janet and I are coming out to Vegas in March. We are always interested in a tour. If you don’t remember who we are pull out the yearbook, (Jessie’s picture is not in there). If you can’t make it to the reunion we can fill everyone in and bring updated pictures of you. Ivy, I hope you remember who I am without having to look it up, I sat behind you in homeroom. It is great to see that the Class of 87 is alive and kicking. Hope to see more names soon.

My e-mail address is york310@comcast.net

Wow 20yrs. It’s great to see that so many of us BHS students are doing quite well. Let’s see, after high school I went off to U of D for undergrad. I graduated with a degree in Sociology. I went on to receive a graduate degree from Springfield College in Human Administration. I presently work for DE Dept of Correction, and reside in Wilm. ( I know I never thought that I would be working for Corrections either, so I definitely feel you on that one Katrina). I am not married, nor do I have any children. Still looking for Mr. Right. Hell if Gary is just getting around to getting married, then I know that there is still hope for me:) Wassup Gary Ricci? Miss you dude, how is Nick? Wow Amy B has 4 little girls who would have imagined. God Bless you honey. Well I see that Ivy and Katrina have posted a message already. Hi ladies glad to know that you both are well. I was wondering where Katrina was. Artie is doing quite well. I will forward this website to her so she can leave a comment. Jean Miller I haven’t seen you out shopping lately where have you been :) I am looking foward to seeing everyone at the reuinion. If anyone needs to contact me with reuinion info or if you just want to say hello feel free to do so. Take care.
tysha1922@netzero.net

Flashback. That’s the word that comes to mind right now.
Sounds like everyone is happy, healthy and enjoying life. :)
Lynn…I know Bridgeville DE very well. My parents grew up in that town. I have not been back to DE (Brdigeville since 2003).
After college (chef’s school) I fell into the IT industry. Have spent the rest of my life working in computers and loving it. I am an independent software consultant currently on assignment at Cox Communications. I have lived all over (CA, FL, RI even in Arden DE for a few years), but Atlanta GA is my home. The weather is wonderful. Traffic sucks, but that’s ATL. Was married briefly, but find living in sin much more fun…especially with a younger man. : D Guess you could say we are DINKs too, but with 3 dogs, 3 cats and 4 fish tanks (2 salt and 2 fresh) Guess you could say we go all out when we decide to do something. I recently tapped into my creative side and am potter. Yes, that’s right, I play in mud for fun and also help remodel our older home. Someday I’ll become a professional potter and I won’t live on a computer day in and day out. What am I saying. I would rather talk on IM instead of the phone. As for the reunion. Summertime is best. We throw 2 pig roasts a year (May and Nov) and since my parents moved to FL we do not usually travel north during the holiday season. If we have any gamers out there. Get a Nintento Wii. THEY ROCK! Be well and be happy!
Karen Short ( karen.short@comcast.net )
oh and there must be Jagger shots. It’s not a party with out them!

Hey all I volunteered to collect all the names and contact info.
So if you haven’t left your info on the blog please email it to me.
I need names, addresses, phone #’s, and email addresses.

AndyBrando@aol.com

Thanks!!

I’m in.

Hi Susan!

I though I saw a posting about a get together at your house on St. Patty’s Day to start planning the reunion. I would love to help out. I don’t get off of work till after 5pm on Saturdays. I tried to email the bhsclassof87@hotmail.com but got back a failure notification. Please get in touch with me if you are still planning the meeting. Thanks!

bijacobs@msn.com

Hey Classmates,

It would be good to see everyone! My face will be in the place-just let me know when. Tysha, thanks for forwarding me the info-you are always good about keeping people posted and on point. I am living in Towson Maryland and I work in the housing industry. I work full-time as a computer consultant for HUD clients and I do real estate investing on the side. So all of you that are in the industry-we need to talk. I don’t know how many of you remember that I had a son in high school. His name is Jakevis. He graduated from Brandywine High School- can you believe it!! No- he was not like me(total opposite). His teachers actually liked him. Anyway, I am proud to say that he will be graduating this May from Virginia State University. I know yall are saying damn- but time flies by so fast. Those of you that have children, embrace and cherish this time with them. Okay, so enough chatting….I am ready to know when and where the reunion will take place. I really want to see all of you. Who would have thought that our rowdy ass class would turn out some superstars. BHS should be proud of us!! I don’t care if it is on the football field at BHS, I will be there. Please keep me posted. I would love to hear from all of you. My personal e-mail address is charezab@aol.com. Peace and Blessings to you all!

Thank you, Dean Cook for forwarding. After reading through this I seemed to have the same response as everyone else – wow! For only being in Brandywine for just over 2 years I seemed to have accumulated a profusion of amazing memories (and that doesn’t even include all the times I can’t remember, but I’m sure they were amazing as well). Ironically I have to gotten to know many more of the class of ’87 after graduating and staying local, including many great years at U of D.

After many major changes I graduated from UD in ’93 with a Graphic Design degree. I’m one of the rare few whose career has stayed course with their degree as I currently head up a Content Services for JP Morgan Chase. It is a weird hybrid of graphics, library sciences, legal, translation services, and Internet and print technologies development. One of those things where I try to explain what I do for a living and people inevitably tilt their heads with that confused dog look and nod. Ask any of my family what I do for a living and the usual response is “…he does stuff with graphics and computers”.

On the personal side of life I married Theresa Pileggi in ’96 (same day as Kristen and Kelly married). Interesting side note in that Andrea Gibson and Meredith Bishop introduced Theresa and me in ’88. She is an amazing woman and we have been blessed with two great daughters – Domenica 7 and Sadie 8. We are currently living in the Cool Springs area of Wilmington – walking distance to Trolley Square. Our house is scattered with musical instruments, books, computers and video games. And on any Tuesday night I can be found in our basement playing with various musicians, including Steven Axt (class of ’88). Lots of blue grass, jazz, blues and modern music thrown together, as we play through many originals, traditional, modern and of course plenty ‘80s covers. Household and band favorites include Tom Petty, U2, Wilco, and as always the Grateful Dead.

Looking forward to the reunion as well and if there is anything I can do to help coordinate or support please let me know. As for my own vote: any Saturday night in June at Harry’s sounds good to me.

Ok Peeps - it’s getting serious now!! We just had a great reunion meeting at Susan’s house. Thanks Sue & Tom for the great hospitality!! If you haven’t done so please email me your personal info including name, address, phone # and email address. I swear I won’t sell it to telemarketers unless the price is right!! Also, email me our classmates info that you may have even if I already have it, it’s better to have it twice than not at all.
Artie Booker - I have your cell phone # from your mom and don’t make me us it!!!
Ok this is the last time I’m asking nicely - don’t make me hunt you all down!

My email is: AndyBrando@aol.com

P.S. Brad Why weren’t you supposed to show tonight????

It was great seeing some of you at Susan’s house this past Saturday.
Thank god my wife took notes since I had a touch of the St. Pats flu.

I have our class reunion temporarly booked at two locations for now.

Washington Street Ale House - Saturday, June 16th
Chase Center (Christiana Ballroom) - Friday, June 15th

I know the Friday date is not something we discussed but both the Chase
Center and Harrys Savoy are booked thru the summer on Saturdays due to
weddings.

Both of these bookings can be cancelled at any time with NO penalty!

I just wanted to reserve a couple dates in case we decide to move forward.

I also am aware that we are checking with BHS to see when Homecoming takes
place this year to see if that weekend will work instead of the summer date.
(Homecoming probably in October-November)

The most important thing we can do at this point is pick the date and commit
to it so venue can be solidified.

Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop.

Hey ya’ all,
I know I missed the meeting this past week since I’m out of state, but I wanted to let everyone know that based upon past reunion conversations, I have booked a solo show at Blue Streak Gallery on Delaware Avenue. The show will run the entire month of June, with a special opening and reception the weekend of our reunion.

I thought we had already booked for mid June to accomodate those with kids that might be in school, and to coordinate with the 5K race and the show?

My vote is for Washington Street Ale House on Saturday June 16. I will plan on a special opening reception for you all on Friday June 15, which has to be confirmed with the gallery this week, so postcards can get printed. I can move it to Saturday June 16 if you all vote for the Christiana Ballroom (where is that?)

Please vote, come to a decision and let me all know, so I don’t have to cancel the show. It will be hard to move it to the Christmas season.

Thanks! Looking forward to it. JP, and the rest, thanks for all of your hard work!

Hey all! Just thought i’d pop in and say hello. I saw a few familiar names as I was reading the messages. Hard to believe it’s been 20 years. Most of you will probably look me up in your old yearbooks thinking “who the heck is this guy?” lol I was quite the quiet & shy type wayyyy back then. Like a few of the guys i’m not married either but i’m in a great relationship now that seems to be going in a positive direction so who knows. I’m just glad to know i’m not the only one that isnt married with a few kids by now hahaha. All & all life has been pretty good. I’ve got my health AND my hair still so thats a BIG plus hahaha. I’m still in Delaware and i’ve been working as a title searcher since 1998. God I love self employment lol Well that’s about all for now…I have to go put on my Banarama tapes now that i’m having all these 80’s flashbacks being here. Just Kidding! lol If anyone wants to drop me a line & say hi feel free. frampy2002@msn.com Take care!

Hey Now………. I fell like I fell off the face of the earth. I haven’t seen practically anyone in years. The only person I’ve seen recently is Corey Wilkerson. His daughter, and my son go to school together. Well.. let’s see…my life, for the past 20…….
married-divorced, but then remarried again in 1997. I have 3 kids …
Dave 17, Ashley Lynn 11, and Joe 8. I live down in Bear DE. I had a serious injury about 7 years ago, and now disabled (bionic) as well. I couldn’t believe it when I heard Kelly and Kristin hooked up?!!!
That is too cool. Kelly, you still owe me ,for pretending to be your mom all thru highschool, writing all your absentee notes. I miss you all, can’t wait to see you at the reunion. LATER

After leaving my last blog, and reading everyone elses blog…I guess mine sounded a little dull, so I figured I’d elaborate a little. For the few that new me, or remember me from high school I was the “intelligent” one who got engaged the night before my senior year … and had planned to graduate, become a wife, and mother and live in a house w/ a white picket fence. OK, I did accomplish some of this … I did get married 8 months after graduation, and a year later started a family. Unfortunately, my husband decided after my son was born, that he wasn’t ready to settle down. Right out of high school, Jobs For Delaware Grads got me a terrific job at JP Morgan, which I did account reconciliation for several years. When I realized the perfect life wasn’t working as planned, I got divorced, and also made a career change. For the next couple years, I managed several stores in Concord Mall..but the hours were beating me up, and wasn’t allowing enough parenting time. So I took a short period of time off to reflect on.. What I Wanted To Be When I Grew Up ??????? I went back to school for business management, in Springfield PA, And realized I hated it !!!!!! So I then attended the school of mixology, and become a bartender-Uncertified Physicologist for many drunks in the state of DE. If any of you guys remember Jason Balan, from Hanby Jr., I worked under him for the Shemp Corp.(Scratch Magoos, Tyler Fitzgerald’s ect) for several years. Prior to my Injury, my last bartending was bouncing back and forth from Barefoot Jack’s and Pancho O’Hara’s….where I met a wonderful guy……had a daughter, oops…got married again, had a son, and now am enjoying my life w/ my family. I am no longer able to work, and miss being out there w/ the crazy delawareans….but life sometimes doesn’t always go your way. I am looking forward to seeing everyone, and hope all is well for the class of 1987 !!!!!!

Hello everyone,
It has been great indeed to read up on what everyone has been doing. Quick update: Right now I too am living in the D.C. area (Fairfax, VA) with my wonderful husband (of 9 years) and our two slightly wild and slightly crazy girls, Ani (6) and Alenoush (4). I work part-time now as an analyst/business process manager after trying variations on that theme. Lived in Northern California for six years where I went to graduate school, and still miss it sometimes, but it’s great to be here close to family. I used to travel and have a more exciting life, but we are definitely enjoying our suburban existence to the fullest. We may even buy a minivan. I feel very lucky that I still keep in contact (even though it is sporadic) with many BHS friends. Hope to make it to the reunion!

I’m in! Wow, I can’t believe all the people I have lost contact with after high school.

Well here is what has been happening with me….

I joined the Army, went into the Army National Guard. Went to University of Delaware for Civil Engineering. Worked for various engineering companies, work for DelDOT…I might of built some of the roads and bridges you guys are driving on.

Got married in 1994…too young…Vegas Baby!

I transferred into the Air Force side of the military (Delaware Air National Guard) in 1995. In 1998, I joined the Air Force (DE ANG) full-time (Active Duty)…I get all the benefits of the Air Force, but I don’t have to move from my home-base every 2 or 3 years. I still currently work at the New Castle County Airport (Guard side of the airport) as the Base Engineer. I have done about about 90 million dollars worth of work over the past 9 years…more to come. We narrowly survived the Base Closure in 2005 (BRAC)…partly because of the great work my people have done to keep our base relevant. The airport was hit in September of 2005(? the dates are all blending now) by a tornado and messed up some of our planes and buildings. I was largely charge of the recovery effort…some of you may have seen it in the world news or the local papers. What a mess…this was almost the last nail in the coffin for the base. We recovered the planes and buildings within six months!

I have travelled all over the world with the military, but my greatest deployment was to Mississippi for Hurricane Katrina Relief for over a month. It was a very tough and humbling experience…God, I love the people of this country!….

I have two wonderful girls (5 and almost 10)…it sucks, but I’m currently going through a divorce. I was with my wife for over 20 years….long story. Anybody have a house to rent?

It’s nice to see some familiar names again…keep in touch.

Hello all…with a special thanks to Artie Booker for tracking me down. I am living in Texas outside of Dallas. After finishing college I worked for ~10 years in the corporate world, but now I mostly stay with my kids (I have 3) and work part time teaching Pilates. My oldest is 7 (Katherine), my middle is 5 (Azaan) and my youngest is 4 (Aza). I am re-married to a wonderful man (Amandla) and I have a fabulous, happy life. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. I really hope its the first week of July, since I am planning to be in town then, but I will do my best to be there .. even if I have to just fly in for that weekend. See you soon!

Wow! I really enjoyed reading about everyone’s adventures since graduation. It seems just like yesterday that we were walking the halls of good ‘ol BHS. Crazy how time flies — 20 years?! Like Tara Levy, I get lots of BHS updates from my family who still lives in Chatham. I keep in touch with Susan (Schlerf) Krukiel - who is currently with her husband and 2 kids overseas in London (they’ll be moving back to the Wilmington area this summer). Me? After working for Andersen Consulting and then for a nonprofit in DC, I went back to school and got my MS in Special Education — taught for a couple of years up in Frederick, MD and then took on my best job yet…motherhood! I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for the past 8 years. I married my college sweetheart, Marty, in 1995. We have a 7 1/2 year old daughter and a 5 1/2 year old son. We moved in August of 2005 up to Hightstown, NJ (outside of Princeton) where my husband is now a science teacher at Peddie, a co-ed boarding school. I’ll start back to work part-time this fall, as a preschool teacher at a little coop preschool not far from here. Life is good!

Anyway, keep the updates coming and best wishes to everyone!! :) Kathy

Wow! What a memory lane!

After I left Brandywine after my sophomore year there, i ended up finishing up highschool in Carmel, Indiana. then I did a final extra year as an exchange student in Sweden, then moved to Seattle to go to the UW and get my BA in Comparative History of Ideas.
I ended up starting my career for the Department of Public Health in Seattle in the Prevention Division working on disease intervention projects. I’m still there now as a senior systems analyst and project manager and trainer. (I’m working towards becoming a yoga teacher on the side.)

I have a wonderful husband and 2 year old son.I still love Seattle and the Northwest — my sister, mom and dad and I live all live here…

I haven’t been in touch with many of the Carmel high school folks over all of these years, except for Amy Kegolvitz, although i heard, over the years about folks my sister would run into while she was living in Deleware. I would love to see your faces and how they’ve transformed over the years! My vote would be for the October or NOvember dates, becuase I can’t make May/June this year.
